‘Everyone deserves a good night’s sleep’

According to the Sleep Foundation, most adults require between seven and nine hours of shuteye every night. A good sleep not only recharges our minds and bodies but helps us stay healthy and fight diseases. And it’s not just about the amount of sleep you get, it’s about the quality of your sleep too. From light-blocking, noise-reducing sleep masks to soft breathable bedding, this World Sleep Day is all about getting the best night’s sleep.

One brand that’s invested in our sleep is the aptly named All About Sleep, founded by Emma Morgan, an ethical skincare ambassador. “Bedding is so important,” says Emma “you’re spending hours and hours cocooned in material and if it’s not breathable your skin will not thank you for it.”

All About Sleep, launched in 2020, offers eco-friendly bamboo bedding and sleep accessories, including scrunchies and eye masks. All of the products are made using sustainable, organic bamboo, which is a cruelty-free and vegan alternative to silk. All About Sleep offers the ethical bedding and sleep product choice.

The bamboo products are designed in the UK and made from bamboo grown in China, which has been Ecocert organic farming certified. The bamboo bedding and accessories are also certified free from any harmful chemicals or substances to Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX®. The sleep tea and other non-bamboo products are all made in the UK by ethical, sustainable and cruelty-free companies.

Emma discovered the importance of breathable bedding when she was trying to help her husband’s eczema: “He’d suffered with eczema for years, all his adult life. And like many eczema sufferers, he had terrible flare-ups which would be so sore. I realised that he was getting very hot at night and scratching at his eczema patches in his sleep. It’s then that I started researching breathable bedding, we tried Egyptian cotton first but there wasn’t any improvement, and then I discovered bamboo sheets which are anti-friction. We tried the bamboo bedding and within days his eczema had completely cleared up – I couldn’t believe it! He was happier, I was happier, we were both sleeping better, and I just knew I wanted to share these magic sheets with everyone – that’s when All About Sleep was born!"

Bamboo is a high-yield, low-impact plant, boasting fast growth, a small carbon footprint, the ability to thrive in poor soil, and it only needs rainwater. Bamboo grows so quickly, one species holds the world record for the fastest-growing plant, reaching 91cm per day! As a result, creating material from bamboo is far more sustainable than the water-intensive process of growing cotton and it is cruelty-free and vegan, unlike silk. In fact, bamboo bedding offers all the hair and skin benefits of silk, without the damaging consequences.
